A pair of former cast members from international versions of “The Ultimate Fighter” will face off in Australia, as Brendan O’Reilly (6-1 MMA, 1-1 UFC) vs. William Macario (7-3 MMA, 1-3 UFC) meet at UFC 193.
UFC officials today confirmed the booking after an initial report from the Brisbane Times.
Featuring a headlining title fight between current UFC welterweight champ Robbie Lawler and top contender Carlos Condit, UFC 193 takes place Sunday, Nov. 15, in Melbourne, Australia. Due to the time difference, the pay-per-view main card, which precedes prelims on FOX Sports 1 and UFC Fight Pass, airs in the U.S. on Saturday, Nov. 14.
O’Reilly made his way to the UFC as a representative of his native Australia on “The Ultimate Fighter Nations: Canada vs. Australia,” though he was eliminated from the tournament in the opening round by Kajan Johnson. He then made his official UFC debut in August 2014, losing by decision to “The Ultimate Fighter: China” winner Zhang Lipeng.
“The Badger” returned to the octagon this past May at UFC Fight Night 65, downing fellow “TUF Nations” Australian Vik Grujic by decision.
Meanwhile, Macario is likely fighting for his UFC life, as he’s coming off back-to-back losses to Matt Dwyer and Neil Magny. The 24-year-old Brazilian appeared to be full or promise after earning his way to the finals on “The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil 2” but has struggled to live up to that potential, notching just one victory in four official UFC contests.
With the addition to the card, UFC 193 now includes:
- Robbie Lawler vs. Carlos Condit
- Mark Hunt vs. Antonio Silva
- Michael Bisping vs. Robert Whittaker
- Akbarh Arreola vs. Jake Matthews
- Kyle Noke vs. Peter Sobotta
- Anthony Perosh vs. Gian Villante
- Ricardo Abreu vs. Daniel Kelly
- Steven Kennedy vs. Richard Walsh
- Brendan O’Reilly vs. William Macario
