July 3, 2012

Ahead of Saturday’s heavily anticipated UFC 148 event, the UFC has released a new video.

The slick production focuses on the long-awaited rematch between UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva and Chael Sonnen.

More specifically, the video – dubbed “UFC 148: The Stat Line” – takes a statistical and historical look at the pay-per-view headliner as UFC notables weigh in on the matchup.

UFC 148 takes place at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. Silva vs. Sonnen II headlines the pay-per-view main card, which follows prelims on FX and Facebook.

Some interesting notes from the video? Prior to their first meeting at UFC 117, which Silva (31-4 MMA, 14-0 UFC) narrowly won with a come-from-behind submission victory, the champ had been hit a total of 166 times by 11 combined UFC opponents. Sonnen (27-11-1 MMA, 6-4 UFC), meanwhile, hit him 320 times in their August 2010 meeting.

Check out all the details as UFC president Dana White, commentators Joe Rogan and Kenny Florian, Silva, Sonnen and others weigh in on this weekend’s matchup.
