With an injury to William Macario, Brendan O’Reilly has a new opponent for November’s UFC 193 card.
James Moontasri (8-3 MMA, 1-2 UFC) has replaced Macario (7-3 MMA, 1-3 UFC) and now meets O’Reilly (6-1 MMA, 1-1 UFC) at the Australian event.
UFC officials today announced the change via brisbanetimes.com.au.
UFC 193 takes place Sunday, Nov. 15, at Etihad Stadium in Melbourne. Due to the time difference, the pay-per-view main card, which follows prelims on FOX Sports 1 and UFC Fight Pass, airs in the U.S. on Saturday, Nov. 14.
O’Reilly made his way to the UFC as a representative of his native Australia on “The Ultimate Fighter Nations: Canada vs. Australia,” though Kajan Johnson eliminated the 28-year-old from the tournament in the opening round. He then made his official UFC debut in August 2014 and dropped a decision to “TUF: China” winner Zhang Lipeng. “The Badger” returned to the octagon in May at UFC Fight Night 65 and downed fellow “TUF Nations” cast member Vik Grujic by decision.
Moontasri joined the UFC in 2014 after a successful 3-0 run with RFA. In his UFC debut, the well-rounded 27-year-old dropped a split decision to Joe Ellenberger (though most media outlets scored the fight for Moontasri, via MMADecisions.com). Although he rebounded to submit Cody Pfister in his next bout, Moontasri missed weight for the fight and then suffered a submission defeat to Kevin Lee in his most recent bout.
The latest UFC 193 card now includes:
