Feijao Camp Expects Title Shot in 2012

November 7, 2011

Monday, November 7 7:00 am PT: FormerStrikeforce light heavyweight champion Rafael “Feijao” Cavalcante paid a price for his second-round knockout victory over 2000 Olympic silver medalistYoel Romero Palacio in September. The 30-year-old Brazilian underwent surgery for a broken arm following the bout and has targeted an early 2012 return. In a recent interview with Sherdog.com, Calvalcante’s trainer, Josuel Distak, said he believes his fighter deserves a title shot:

“He worked hard to defeat Romero. Feijao fights well against any wrestler. He has some good takedown defense. Everything we worked on ended up happening. This win was spectacular, and we’re expecting a title shot for him. He has the right to reclaim his belt in 2012.”
