A key light heavyweight matchup between Patrick Cummins (8-2 MMA, 4-2 UFC) and Glover Teixeira (23-4 MMA, 6-2 UFC) has been added to the UFC’s November return to Brazil.
UFC Senior Vice President and General Manager of Brazil Giovani Decker today announced the contest during an appearance on Brazilian broadcast outlet Canal Combate.
Featuring a headlining rematch of Vitor Belfort vs. Dan Henderson, UFC Fight Night 77 takes place Nov. 7 in Sao Paulo, though a venue hasn’t been finalized. The card is expected to air on FOX Sports 1 following early prelims on UFC Fight Pass.
Teixeira is currently ranked No. 7 in the latest Nos Energy Drink MMA light heavyweight rankings, while Cummins is an honorable mention.
Cummins looks for the biggest win of his career after dominating Rafael “Feijao” Cavalcante at UFC 190 in Brazil earlier this month. That big win followed a disappointing April loss to Ovince Saint Preux.
Teixeira also earns a quick return to action after earning a “Fight of the Night” victory over Saint Preux earlier this month. Teixeira looked to be in vintage form after falling short in back-to-back outings against Phil Davis and Jon Jones.
With the addition to the card, UFC Fight Night 77 now includes:
Vitor Belfort vs. Dan Henderson
Patrick Cummins vs. Glover Teixeira
Gilbert Burns vs. Rashid Magomedov
Matheus Nicolau Pereira vs. Bruno Rodrigues
Yan Cabral vs. Johnny Case
