Cat Zingano’s rousing UFC-debut win over Miesha Tate

February 9, 2015

Cat Zingano’s quest for a UFC title shot arguably began in April 2013, when she made her UFC debut and scored a rousing come-from-behind win over former title challenger Miesha Tate.

Check out the full fight above.

Down on the scorecards, Zingano rallied and pulled off the comeback victory at The Ultimate Fighter 17 Finale.

It was a pivotal win for Zingano (9-0 MMA, 2-0 UFC), who returns on Feb. 28 to meet reigning UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey (10-0 MMA, 4-0 UFC) in UFC 184’s pay-per-view headliner.

After defeating Tate, Zingano was supposed to coach opposite Rousey on “TUF 18.” However, a knee injury and surgery sidelined her for more than a year, and Tate got the coaching slot (and title shot) instead. But Zingano made a successful return in September and knocked out Amanda Nunes to reclaim her shot at Rousey’s belt.
