Bocek-dos Anjos moves to PPV

November 17, 2012

Nick Ring (13-1 MMA, 3-1 UFC) is out of tonight’s UFC 154 event, and his fight with fellow middleweight Constantinos Philippou (11-2 MMA, 4-1 UFC) has been canceled.

UFC officials today announced Ring fell ill and wasn’t cleared to compete.

Officials subsequently announced lightweight grapplers Rafael dos Anjos (17-6 MMA, 6-4 UFC) and Mark Bocek (11-4 MMA, 7-4 UFC) have taken their spot on the pay-per-view main card.

UFC 154 takes place tonight at Montreal’s Bell Centre. The main card airs on PPV following prelims on FX and Facebook. As part of the shift, featherweights Rodrigo Damm (10-5 MMA, 1-0 UFC) and Antonio Carvalho (14-5 MMA, 1-1 UFC) have moved from the Facebook preliminary card to the FX prelims.

Ring recently rebounded from his first career loss (to Tim Boetsch at UFC 135) with a decision victory over Court McGee at UFC 149. Philippou, meanwhile, was quietly searching for his fifth consecutive win in the UFC.

The current UFC 154 card now includes:
