BigNog x Werdum ‘TUF: Brazil 2′ coaching staffs

November 7, 2012

Fabricio Werdum and Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira have named their coaching staffs for “The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil 2.”

The veteran UFC heavyweights recently were named head coaches for the upcoming reality show, which begins filming early next year for an expected March debut.

Some notable names are part of the coaching squads.

Team Werdum features Wanderlei Silva (MMA), Rafael Cordeiro (muay Thai), Rubens Cobrinha (jiu-jitsu), Kenny Johnson (wrestling) and Felipe Werdum (capoeira), according to a report fromĀ Globo.

Team Nogueira, meanwhile, features Luiz Dorea (boxing), Everaldo Penco (jiu-jitsu), Eric Albarracin (wrestling), Sheymon Moraes (muay Thai) and Vitor Miranda (kickboxing).

“TUF: Brazil” was the first international edition of the long-running reality competition series. The show, which featured coaches Silva and Vitor Belfort, debuted in March and aired on Globo in Brazil. In the U.S., the show streamed the same week on, and FUEL TV later carried it.

Following “TUF: Brazil 2,” Nogueira and Werdum will fight in the traditional season-ending coaches’ fight, though an exact date hasn’t been finalized. That bout will be a rematch between the two; Nogueira beat Werdum by decision at a 2006 PRIDE event in the first round of an open-weight grand prix.

Nogueira, who also coached “TUF 8,” is coming off a submission victory over Dave Herman at UFC 153 in Rio, though he hasn’t posted back-to-back wins in nearly five years. Werdum returned to the UFC earlier this year after a 3-1 stint with Strikeforce, where he upset Antonio Silva and Fedor Emelianenko. He’s now on a 5-1 run, including a TKO win over Mike Russow at UFC 147 in Brazil in June.
