Globo today first reported the bookings, and UFC officials confirmed the plans shortly after.
As MMAjunkie previously reported, more than 600 hopefuls attended Monday’s “TUF: Brazil 4″ open tryout session in Rio de Janeiro. Lightweights and bantamweights were invited to the session. While both weight classes are expected to take part in the show, UFC officials have yet to make a formal announcement.
However, they did reveal one unique twist to the fourth edition of “The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil.” After an elimination fight in Brazil, 16 fighters will travel to Las Vegas, where the show will be filmed in Sin City.
Both Silva and Rua are currently scheduled to compete before filming for the series begins.
In a late opponent switch, Rua now meets Ovince Saint Preux in the main event of next week’s UFC Fight Night 56 event in Uberlandia, Minas Gerais, Brazil. Meanwhile, Silva is expected to face Nick Diaz in the headlining bout of UFC 183, which takes place Jan. 31 in Las Vegas.
